The Republicans are all, “make us” and the Democrats are all like, “fine, we will” (part 2 of 213,123)

But she looks so nice...

obama

Has Barack Obama really broken his promise to pursue bipartisanship? This “economic stimulus” bill was bullied through both houses of Congress. Three Republican (Specter, it is on next time you are up for reelection) senators made up the entirety of the “bipartisan” support for this bill. All of this is pretty condemning evidence, but not necessarily of only President Obama.

Nancy Pelosi apparently thinks that we elected the first female president two years ago when the Democrats gained a majority in the House. Her antics prancing around the world legitimizing regimes that actively and openly preach death to America and her allies, seem to be the action of a very ill-advised liberal presidential administration; not a Speaker of the House. The point is that Nancy seems to have become slightly to big for her pants-suit (this is not a fat joke, I am speaking metaphorically).

It was Nancy Pelosi that promised Republicans 48 hrs to review the 1072 page economic stimulus bill. It was also Pelosi and Harry Ried that refused to allow a single house Republican to be present while the House and Senate hammered out this bill in committee. These were a few of the more partisan moves made while this bill was being pushed into law.

Of course Obama is far from blameless. The President is the leader of his party, and it was his job to reign in his party’s leaders. Clearly the commitment to building consensus in congress that Obama promised to have is nonexistent. Despite the fact that Obama allowed Pelosi and Reid do his dirty work, I think that the American people are starting to wake up and smell the politics.

When it comes right down to it Obama has refused to make the tough decisions and stand up to his own party for change in Washington. When the Republicans were in power they passed many bills without building any consensus, and now it is the Democrat’s turn to rule the playground (wet-willies and indian-burns all around).

Has Obama already broken his promise to pursue bipartisanship?

Yea–talking about this stimulus bill is depressing. I’m glad I didn’t believe Obama about change and good feelings. Imagine how depressed I’d be.
